How to Respond to Rebellion

What do you do when the people you pour your life, time, energy, and resources into turn against you and render abuses right in front of you? What do you do when you are weak and need strength or someone to encourage you and all you are left with is more discouragement? I guess you will say that the right thing to do is to throw in the towel and say it’s not worth it.
The rebellion in human being has been traced to their quest for self actualisation and carefree life devoid of God. Human beings deliberately disobeyed God, change their loyalty and alliance to an alien’s deceit and the rest is history. Rebellion leads to more rebellion and on and on.
When you are faced with something like this I want you to know that you are in the real deal. You are soon going to be tested and trusted. You are about to experience life’s great miracle of inner calm and tranquility. But I must admit that the process is not a cheap one. It is not a time for party but a time to reflect on God’s kindness over the years.
Jesus our model and mentor poured his life and everything for human kind but they turned against him. They arrested him like a thief, flogged him like a criminal, sentenced him to death, spat on him, make gest of him, humiliated him and took him to the cross. They challenged him to come down from the cross to prove that he is God. After all the noise and the drama and violence metted on Jesus, he said “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do”.
The answer to rebellion therefore is to say like Jesus, “Father forgive them for they do not know what they do”. Compassion and mercy compelled by love is what rebellious people need. They need grace not anger. They need forgiveness so they can receive the love of God in their hearts.
I was faced with rebellion recently and my reaction was to quit helping and doing what I was doing but grace and mercy compelled me to love the person irrespective of the acts. I see that christianity is not about feeling or being comfortable but experiencing comfort from the Lord even in the midst of crises or turbulent moments. When people explode in anger on you, activate love to overflow your heart and your response will come out in love. The only solution to rebellion is unconditional love.
